Highly Addictive {Vegan} Air Fryer Broccoli

This highly addictive vegan air fryer broccoli is just that. Highly addictive! This side dish comes together in less than 2 minutes and is cooked to perfection in your Air Fryer in 5 minutes!

Highly Addictive {Vegan} Air Fryer Broccoli

You are going to have to trust me and stick with me for this Highly Addictive Vegan Air Fryer Broccoli if you are not someone that is familiar with all the vegan foods. Trust me – it will be worth it.

I am not vegan and my pantry has nutritional yeast in it. I know – worst name ever!

Ignore the name, and again, trust me!

Nutritional yeast is used in many vegan “cheese” dishes. It is highly nutrient dense with B vitamins, but I don’t even eat it because of that – the flavor when cooked with broccoli is UNREAL.

While, I love cheese (hello, have you seen the Breakfast Bentos I have been eating for MONTHS?!), I am not replacing all of the cheese in my life with this vegan alternative, I however am never making broccoli ever again without it!

The flavor, the texture. ALL OF IT.

I think I didn’t love for broccoli for so long because I don’t love the texture from steaming it, but wow, the Air Fryer was broccoli game changer for me.

The texture is not super crispy… but not like limp steamed broccoli. There is no way to explain it, you just need to make this and eat it every single day for 2 weeks like I did!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups broccoli florets fresh
  • 2 Tablespoons oil I use coconut oil or olive oil
  • 1 Tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Gently mix all ingredients in a bowl. You might be concerned that there is too much oil. Most of it will drip down through the holes in your fyer tray so they won't be over soaked, don't worry.
  • Place the contents into the air fyer tray.
  • Air Fry at 370F for 5 minutes.
  • If you want to do more than this, you will have to do multiple batches. You want as much of a single layer as you can get, for even cooking.

  1. Looks fantastic but I haven’t jumped on the air fryer band wagon yet. How would the yeast do if you put it on the broccoli and roasted it in the oven??

      1. I just got a Power Air Fryer and am looking for recipes for this fryer, not then with the pull out bowl for the food, but done on the racks. Where do you get the yeast you’re talking about!

    1. I have only ever used fresh. I am not sure what the time conversion would be for frozen and I don’t think you would get the same texture.

Just made it — my first air fryer recipe! It is fantastic. The broccoli retains its crunch. I had a bunch leftover, so tomorrow I am going to put the broccoli in homemade fried rice. Yum! Thanks for the recipe.

    1. I like Bob’s Red Mill. In regular grocery stores I find it in the Health food section. In Canada, Bulk Barn also carries it. I imagine a store like Whole Foods carries it in the US.

This is the very first thing I made with my new air fryer and it’s delicious! Super quick, super easy, and yummy. Big hit, thanks 🙂

    1. The nutritional yeast is a vegan alternative to cheese. So, parmesean cheese is the closest option – unless you are vegan.

  5. I am looking at this recipe and wondering what nutritional yeast is and where do I get it? What does the broccoli taste like with it on, and what would the broccoli taste like without it?

    1. Nutritional yeast is often a cheese substitute in the vegan world. The most comparable taste and texture is parmesan cheese.

Just made 2 batches tonight for the first time -we tore through the first batch so fast, we had to go again. It was so good! I was a little heavy handed with the yeast and seasonings but made it better. We also liked our broccoli pieces cut small. Thanks!!

So easy and awesome. We have Yeshi nutritional yeast dressing on hand so just used that instead of olive oil & yeast.
