This post is sponsored by Egg Farmers of Canada as part of their #RecipesThatGive campaign. As always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that I love and support.

I am so excited to team up with Egg Farmers of Canada for their #RecipesThatGive campaign!

They have joined forces with the Canada Food Bank to have Canadian bloggers create simple and easy-to-recreate recipes, to give Canadians the gift of time to spend with their loved ones and make meaningful contributions in their community.

Through this campaign,  we are encouraging Canadians to inspire others to give back by sharing their simple and delicious #RecipesThatGive on social media and donating food, funds or time to their local food bank.

Egg Farmers of Canada and Canada Food Banks

More than a million visits are made to a food bank in Canada each month.

In Canada, 1 in 3 people helped by food banks are children and youth.

Community engagement is rooted in the traditions of family farming across our country, and our farmers are long-time supporters of food banks.

Canadian egg farmers donate more than 1.4 million eggs to their local food banks every year.

Today I am sharing this single serve, time saving, egg recipe for the #RecipesThatGive campaign!

It doesn't get any easier (or time saving!) than to load up a wide mouth mason jar with your favorite combination of omelette ingredients ahead of time,  give it a shake, pop it into the microwave, and have a hearty egg breakfast to eat on the go!

There are endless (egg-cellent) possibilities for flavor combinations for your mason jar omelettes!

I took to my Instagram stories to ask my readers what their favorite omelette combinations are - it appears my fellow meal plan addicts love eggs too! They flooded my inbox with their combos!

If you are lacking omelette combination inspiration here are a few combos my readers shared with me:

    • Spinach, cheddar, & bacon
    • Sausage (cooked), red bell pepper, & cheese.
    • Spinach, mushroom, & pepper jack cheese.
    • Mushrooms, asparagus, onion, & Swiss cheese.
    • Caramelized onions, mushrooms, & cheese.
    • Tomato, spinach, & avocado.
    • Bacon & Gruyere cheese.
    • Jalapenos, tomato, & onion

..... just to name a few!

What is needed for mason jar omelettes?

You need jars... toppings, and eggs!

You want to make sure you get wide mouth jars. One thing to know is that the cook times with vary just a bit depending on jar shape.

The short and really wide jars cook a bit faster than the taller longer ones. Either way you are going to have your omelette in under 5 minutes!

How to prep your mason jar omelettes!

    1. First, you need to spray your jars with non stick spray!
    2. Then, it really is as simple as loading up the jar with about ½ cup - ¾ cup of your toppings. Meat (such as bacon and sausage) should go into the jars already cooked. If you choose to add potatoes to your jars, those must also be pre cooked.
    3. Lastly add the eggs. You can choose to add one or 2 eggs, depending on your preference!

There are 3 ways to prep your mason jar omelettes:

    1. Load the jar with toppings and the egg. The omelettes should then be cooked within 2 days.
    2. Load the jar with toppings, and add the egg at time of cooking. This means you could prep your jars for 4 days.
    3. Load the jars with toppings and egg, then cook. Simply reheat. These should be consumed within 3 days.

How to cook your mason jar omelettes - 3 ways!

Cooking your mason jar omelette can be done in any of these 3 ways:

    • Microwave on high for 3-4 minutes (depending on how you like your eggs cooked and the shape of the jar)
    • Bake 350F for 25-30 minutes.
    • Pour your jar ingredients into a hot and buttered pan and cook on the stove top. Flipping and folding like a traditional omelette.

That is it! It is really that simple!

When using mason jars, how do the lids work? How are they sealed?

You just use regular mason jar lids. Nothing special. You can even buy plastic lids for them too.

How large of jar do you need for this? Will the 10 oz work?

So easy and healthy. I forgot to spray first and it wasn’t too bad to clean. Definitely a keeper!
