These cute healthy Halloween brownie bites come together within a few minutes and are perfect if you have a kid helper.
The kids can help measure and load up the food processor with all of the ingredients. Then you can pawn off the rolling and decorating too!
This recipe is really this easy. Load up a food processor. Make the balls. Decorate. Chill. Done.
This is a no bake recipe!
I have an amazing Breville Sous Chef Food Processor, but this should work in any food processor.
How to avoid to dry or too sticky brownie bites
The recipe as written is a good starting point, but I do find, depending on the freshness of the dates, you need to add water.
If your mixture is not coming together like the photo above, add water, just a tablespoon at a time.
If you have a mixture that is too sticky (ie. too wet), add in oats to tighten it up.
Easiest way to form brownie bites
I use this half tablespoon cookie scoop for this recipe. This way I can get even sized brownie bites and they are just the perfect size.
Using a scoop also is just a lot less icky on the hands. Yes, the professional term is icky.
Can I make this nut free?
Yes! Sub out the peanut butter for wow butter and you have school safe, nut free brownie bites.
Healthy? How are sprinkles healthy?
They aren’t. If you want to leave them out, by all means, do it. It was just a fun way to get my kid interested in making energy bites!

Can I freeze these brownie bites
Absolutely. In fact, I keep them in the freezer, I like them super cold. Just let them thaw a few minutes before you bite into it.
Do these taste like dates?
In my opinion, not at all.
They taste like brownies and have the texture of under cooked brownies … aka brownie mix. Trust me. You want these in your life.

Healthy Halloween Brownie Bites (No Bake)
- Food Processor - I have the Breville Sous Chef Food Processor
- 12 medjool dates, pits removed
- 2 tbsp dark chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 1 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp peanut butter I use homemead peanut butter in the recipe, but feel free to sub any nut butter of choice - including wow butter.
- 1 Tbs cocoa powder
- Halloween sprinkles
- Add all ingredients into a food processor - EXCEPT the sprinkles.
- Pulse the food processor until the ingredients bind together. If the batter is sticking to the container and not starting to form a ball in the processor, add water only 1 tablespoon at a time until it starts to form a ball. If you add too much water, you can counter than with adding more oats.
- Using a .5 teaspoon cookie scoop, scoop up the "dough" and form into balls.
- Roll the balls in the sprinkle mix - but go easy on them!
- These are best served after they are chilled. Put them in the freezer for 15 minutes to really set.
- Store in an air tight container in the fridge or freezer. These last a week in the fridge, and 3 months in the freezer (but to be honest, the really wont last because they will be eaten!)
