It’s the last week of having my kid at home for the summer, and then next week it’s back to prepping for school lunches, hangry kid after school snacks, and Fall after school activity schedules.

One of the greatest debates among Instant Pot users - "Can I use my Instant Pot as a slow cooker?"⠀

There are lovers and haters of this function. Here is why:⠀
.⠀

.⠀
1 - you are not setting it properly. If you press slow cook and walk away, you essentially put your food on keep warm. You have to press adjust to move to "normal" which translates to "low", and press it twice to get to "more" which is high. ⠀
.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
Not super intutitive - I know.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
.⠀
2 - it is not exactly the same as a traditional slow cooker. Slow cookers heat from all sides and the bottom. The instant pot heats from THE BOTTOM ONLY. ⠀
.⠀
.⠀
For something like a couple of chicken breasts, you shouldn't see much difference, but for chili filled to the brim, yes, you will have to increase the time since it is only heating from the bottom. ⠀
