If you bought a spiralizer and you are only spiralizing zucchini, you my friend, are missing out in sprializing life.
I am a self proclaimed kitchen gadget lover and so when I came across spiralizing, I went ALL IN. I tried every type of spiralizer out there (my full review is here), and then taught spiralizing classes here in Airdrie, Alberta.
In case you haven’t realized it yet, when I am into something, I am ALL IN to something.
I started really playing with spiralizing all the things and realized there are SO many things you can sprialize…… and many ways to prepare all of the veggie noodles. It makes your dishes far from boring, and fun to eat!
Some noodles are best raw, some sauted, some baked, some simmered in a soup, some can be turned into bagels and buns, some can be turned into veggie rice, and some can be done a combination of ways.
Holy confusing, right.
Fear not, I have you covered.
First of all, not all spiralizers can do all kinds of produce. So if you really want to get the most out of spiralizing make sure you check out my review of spiralizers so you get the one you will get the best use out of.

For clarity – when I say counter top, I am referring to the horizontal units. When I say electric, I am referring to the vertical models.

Are you ready for the most beautiful drink garnishes?! How about adding these bad boys to some breakfast muffins! or better yet, how about in a crunchy salad like this one from The Creative Bite.
Beet noodle salads! Or how about pulsing your golden beet noodles in a food processor for a few pulses to make rice!
Yes, you can spiralize a bell pepper. Here is a quick video. Who likes slicing peppers?! The answer is… NO ONE. Sprializing gets you your peppers in a fraction of the time.

You do need a pretty girthy stem, but make those broccoli dishes a bit differrent with the stem. Bonus points for contributing to the #nowaste revolution!

I had never really eaten much butternut squash until I started spiralizing it. An alfredo type sauce on butternut squash is amazing! oh, and butternut ravioli is a real thing!
I love how thin cabbage cuts when spiralized. it is also super simple to do and you can have a whole head all chopped in less than 30 seconds!
This one can be a bit tricky. You need very large carrots! I use Chinese nante carrots and they work great.
I won’t even lie, this one is work. Just getting the hairy peel off is more work that I want to deal with! But, once spiralized you can rice this with a quick pulse in a food processor and it is AWESOME in soups! Freezing rice in soups is not great (rice absorbs liquid and bloat), but swapping for this is a great freezer friendly option!
Make your salads a whole lot prettier! This is a terrible prep ahead noodle, so only spiralize just before you serve this one.

Another veggie I had not even touched before spiralizing! It is another mild one that can go into soups or be riced.
If you buy a spiralizer JUST to get onions cut up quick, I would say you have made a great purchase. On my big freezer meal prep days, I sprialize and quick chop the noodles in a fraction of the time it takes to chop them. Check out this video to see.
Much like a carrot, you need to be picky on the parsnips you need to be a bit picky to get one that is thick enough. But… ummm parsnip waffles. Yea, those are a real thing.
Much like the apple. A great garnish in fancy drinks and to put into muffins. But, not a good prep ahead noodle!
Hello curly fries. Need I say more, really? Or how about these everything bagels (from Inspiralized)!
Cutest salad garnishes ever! Quick pickle radishes are also pretty good!
This is probably the one I do the most. I do potsticker bowls, pad thai, and use them as a swap for regular noodles. I find they are a more realistic pasta swap that zucchini!
If you make nothing else in your spiralized life, please make this bacon carbonara. Probably my #1 fav meal to spiralize.
Another great one to rice or simmer in a soup. A mild taste, it will absorb the flavor of what you cook it with. You probably wouldn’t even miss rice!
