The best gifts are edible gifts! No cookies or sweet stuff on this list, just 10 Savory Edible Gifts for Fellow Foodies that they will love!
I have spent this year trying to declutter my house (and my life), and that has made me really consider what I want to gift to my friends and family this holiday season. I have a sneaking suspicion many of them are not interested in a whole lot of "stuff" either.
This year, I am gifting only experiences and edible gifts!
This way, I can spread the love, but not the clutter! Also, tasty gifts are the best kind of gifts!
Lucky for me, I hang with quite a few fellow food lovers and appreciators! Also, lucky for me, I like being in the kitchen creating. So this approach is a no brainer for me!
In my own research of what I was going to make and gift to my fellow foodies this year, I started a running list of the things that looked easy, inexpensive, and not sweet. I feel like sweet things are in abundance around the holidays, so I wanted to give more savory gifts! No cookies and chocolate on this list!
Home Roasted Coffee
This year, I took a home roasting class and I am in love. I now buy green beans that come from around the world (from local distributor Pre Umber), and my coffee loving friends are getting a cute mason jar of fresh roasted coffee!
I use a popcorn popper (no lie) and if you want to too, here are some quick and dirty instructions from DIYCoffeeRoasting.com
DIY Garlic Powder
Ok, this is a labor of love. It took hours and hours and hours to dehydrate all my garlic, but was so worth it! I ended up with the most amazingly fresh garlic powder and it make more than enough to gift to a few avid home chefs on my list! Here is how you can do it too!
Chili Oil
This one is SO easy to make and really, what can you not use this for? Use it to sauté veggies, on top of mushroom soup, as a salad dressing. Heat oil. Allow to cool a bit, and they add to jars with your chili and garlic goodness.
